received his Diploma and MD in Anesthesia from Trivandrum Medical College. He also underwent further training in Palliative Care at the International School of Cancer Care at Oxford, UK.

Instead of opting for lucrative careers in Anesthesia, both chose to go into social service after completing their studies. Their initial foray into social service was in the Pain and Palliative Program at Medical College, Calicut. Their work involved relieving the pain and distress of dying cancer patients. As part of their work, they had to make regular visits to patients’ homes. Subsequently, they moved over to the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi and were instrumental in starting the Pain and Palliative Care Department at AIMS.

In October, 2004, they moved over to Kalpetta, Wyanad to work at the Amrita Kripa Charitable hospital, a tribal health initiative under the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Their main mission at the hospital has been to look after the health needs of the tribals.

They have a busy outpatient service at the hospital and also conduct regular out-reach camps for the benefit of tribes living in remote and inaccessible regions of Wyanad. They have been working at Wyanad for the past 9 years.
